Dermal fillers are injectable gels made up of hyaluronic acid that can help to maintain hydration and therefore have anti-ageing, moisturising and anti-wrinkle effects as well as adding volume, contouring and improving skin elasticity. They can also be used to enhance your naturally beautiful features. I am an advocate for creating a natural enhancement that leaves you looking refreshed, youthful and feeling more confident. Please note that dermal fillers are not permanent and get resorbed over time.
I mainly use Stylage dermal fillers, which are of non-animal origin. They contain an antioxidant called mannitol which helps to reduce the breakdown of the injected hyaluronic acid by free radicals (improving its longevity) and also helps to reduce post-treatment swelling.
Before & After Cheekbone Enhancement
What happens during the treatment?
The treatment itself may take around 30-45 minutes depending on the number of area(s) to be treated.
I use different injection techniques according to the area treated and may use a microcannula technique (a small thin flexible tube) in certain areas such as the nasolabial folds (smile lines) and marionette lines to improve safety and make the treatment more comfortable for you. I can use a skin numbing cream if requested, however, most of the products contain the anaesthetic lidocaine which kicks-in quickly after the first injection to help make the treatment more comfortable for you.
Immediately following the treatment, I apply recommended products to help the skin over the injected area heal.
How long before I see results and how long do the results last?
Results are immediate.
The results may last anything between 6-12+ months (and varies according to the product used which depends on the area treated, depth of injection, body metabolism and environmental factors such as heat).
Should you wish to have additional dermal filler treatment to the same area, please wait at least 14-21 days. Regular touch-up treatments may improve durability of the treatment and longevity.
Before & After Lip Enhancement
Is the treatment safe?
The majority of patients do not experience any problems following treatment with dermal fillers.
Some patients may experience redness, swelling, bleeding, itching, discomfort when applying pressure to the treated area or mild temporary bruising, which can be covered with concealer. This usually settles down with time. I take precautions to reduce the risks of infection. As every procedure carries a small potential amount of risk, these are discussed during our consultation.

Are dermal filler treatments suitable for everyone?
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is best to wait until things have settled and you are back to your usual routine. I do not treat anyone under the age of 18 and proof of age may be required. There are certain medical conditions which may mean the treatment is not suitable for you, however, this will be covered in more detail during the consultation.
What should I do after the treatment?
Please avoid touching the area for at least 24 hours.
Avoid massage or compression of the treated area for the first 72 hours following injection.
Make sure to apply a mineral sunscreen ideally factor 50 with a high PA rating daily for at least 2 weeks and avoid direct sun exposure for at least 24 hours after treatment.
Avoid make-up for at least 24 hours or until any redness and post-injection swelling has settled completely.
Avoid aerobic exercise, vigorous physical activity, extreme heat or extreme cold for at least 72 hours and ideally a week after the treatment. If you have any concerns please contact me for further advice.
