Medical-microneedling is a treatment that uses controlled micro-injury to stimulate the skin's natural repair mechanisms. It is commonly used for acne scarring, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), uneven texture and early signs of skin ageing.

What to Expect

How It Works

  • A hydrating mask is used post-treatment to support comfort and recovery
  • Numbing cream is not routinely used to ensure clinical endpoint accuracy. Most patients describe the sensation as tolerable and short-lived.
  • Treatment time is typically 80–105 minutes

Results and Recovery

  • Immediately after: Redness and warmth are expected, similar to mild sunburn
  • Recovery timeline: Skin returns to baseline within ~7 days
  • Gradual structural improvements over weeks to months
  • Course of 3–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is typically required
  • In cases of PIH, pigment may initially appear more noticeable before improving

Aftercare

  • Avoid make-up for at least 24 hours
  • Avoid heat exposure, swimming, and active skincare until settled
  • Use gentle cleanser and barrier-supporting skincare
  • Daily SPF 50 is essential

Safety and Side Effects

Microneedling is a well-established medical procedure when performed with appropriate technique and device settings. Sterile, single-use cartridges are used for each treatment.

  • History of keloid or hypertrophic scarring
